I am re-applying this year, but I am not sure when to submit my AMCAS. Last year I had a low MCAT score, but I plan to raise it this August. I am worried if I submit the AMCAS before the schools get my new MCAT score, then I will not get offered a secondary. Conversely, I am scared that if I submit it in September when the scores are released, I will be competing for waitlist spots. Any suggestions or experience anyone can offer.
Thanks in advance.

Submit it now, but check the box that says you're re-taking the MCAT. Schools will hold your application until the new scores come in, but you should still receive the vast majority of secondaries so you won't be very behind. Good luck!

From what I understand, if you mark that you are taking a future MCAT, they won't even consider your application until they have the scores.

Correct, but non-screening schools [i.e., the majority of schools] will send you secondaries so your application can be complete the moment MCAT scores arrive. It's far better than waiting until September to submit.
