Just do not send the secondaries.
I do not see any difference between 1st time applicant and re-applicant. Some secondaries may ask you next year have you applied in past and you just say yes and they may also ask the improvement in your application. You m ention the improvements. I do no see any big deal in being a re-applicant.

wait why not send the secondary?...am i considered a re-applicant if i decide to withdraw post secondary...my dilema is that i voided my MCAT this year and rescheduled for the one in January and i was just thinking if i dont feel confident about my score i might just void it again but then i would have to withdraw my application or can i indicate somewhere on te application that I would like to apply for the next cycle..and speaking of the improvements i dont know what i would do in this case..

I believe if you send them your primary application, you are considered an applicant regardless of your secondary application's status.

anyone have any more information and has any one ever withdrawn their application..what exactly are the consequences

I never sent out secondaries and just emailed the schools to them know that I was withdrawing. They did say that I would be considered a re-applicant and so in the future I would need to state that and I have no problem with that. They never asked why I was withdrawing.

If I apply in May 2011, we'll see how it goes for me.

hi there was that after you were verified or before you were verified that you emailed them ? thanks

If you have not been verified and schools have not received your primary, withdraw from AACOMAS, schools will not know you applied.

If you have been verified and your application has been sent to schools, you will be classified as a re-applicant regardless of whether or not you turn in a secondary to that school.

As a re-applicant myself I can tell you that you are expected to have done work to significantly improve your application. A simple, my application is in earlier, will not suffice. I have been asked about what I have done over the past year to improve myself in every interview this year and many secondaries will ask you about it as well.

Its up to you whether or not you withdraw but like I said, make sure you have an answer to what you have done to significantly improve your application if you choose to do so.

Since you've gone through this would you say that a retake of the MCAT with around a 4 point increase, another 150 volunteer hours some clinical, some community, and a little more shadowing would be enough of a change? I do have a different job, it isn't medical related, but I do believe that it has enhanced personal skills, and I plan to emphasize that in my application and in any interviews I receive. What else would you suggest? Thank you.

I'd say that it is enough. The MCAT improvement is the biggest deal obviously. 150 hours could be alot or could be nothing depending on how it compares to the rest of your application. I'd be sure to emphasize things you've learned in the extra year as well when asked.
