Applying for med school in October is pretty darn late - you'd be better off getting your application completed and submitted now even if you're not taking MCATs until August. It'll take time to verify your transcripts, write essays, etc. Not to mention that lots of med schools will send secondaries automatically - and if your app can be complete the DAY MCAT SCORES come out, you'll be that much ahead.

BTW, I'm reapplying this year for one of the main reasons that my app was not complete until late November... it killed me everywhere. Even the places where I was in the "to interview" pile, I didn't get an interview just 'cuz I was so late. I can NOT stress enough the importance to apply early. EARLY EARLY EARLY EARLY EARLY!!!!!

As for PS - every person's PS is different (and I think should be). There is no cookie-cutter for a "good" PS. Think about how you ended up thinking about med school. Why do you *really* want to be a doctor? Not just some "my gramma was sick" story, but really why.... What being a doctor means to you. Explain how you've prepared yourself mentally (not necessarily by classroom learning). This is your chance to set yourself apart, convince them that you're the one to choose. And then have anyone and everyone critique it. If you have a pre-med office, have that person read it. Have someone who has prepared graduate school applications read it. Have a favorite English professor read it (believe it or not, one of the biggest problems with essays is poor grammar). Know someone on an admissions committee? Have them read it. And revise, revise, revise.

Good luck.. but I think most people here would rather critique something you've come up with than give out something they worked on so hard. There are lots of websites with PS examples - a good place to start would be a google search. :luck:
