My feeling is that if one is a "weaker" applicant, it might get a little harder to schedule now, but it's certainly not too late. I know many of the big-name programs are just now sending out invites. The biggest issue I could see is not getting many choices for interview dates at places that have been sending out invites since early-mid Sept.
