So here's the deal I was planning on taking the MCAT July 8th, took it previously and was slightly under 50th percentile. Not feeling great about this test in lieu of the most recent practice tests. At this point since I can't get my money back I'll take it regardless on the 8th and void if I'm not feeling too hot about it. In that scenario I would give myself another couple months and take the test on the August 25th date. Those scores release September 25th. Even if I pre-verified with a throw-out school, is applying late in September or super early October too late? Is there some other option I'm missing here? Thoughts/Advice?

Here's what I'd recommend. First of all, can you postpone your exam a month or two? If so, I would postpone it until August, then take the exam and summit the scores immediately after they release. Your application will be just fine as long as you aren't sporting a 3.0 and a real low MCAT. All I am saying is this -- if you don't get in with your application after submitting it in August or September, then you probably wouldn't have made it anyway. I applied in September with a 3.5x and a 50x and received 7 interview invites, attended 4 and was accepted to all 4. You feel better, now?

Heck I applied December/Jan with a Jan MCAT.....and I got in to my top choice 🙂 had a few IIs too....but you MUST have a freaking awesome application and must be reasonable in your expectations...

Strong MCAT and gpa and yes Oct is ok, not the best but ok.

A weak gpa often = weak mcat so don't be unrealistic and think you have a 3.1 and going to make a 515 MCAT. It's rare.

I second this. I know there have been a few exceptions with people getting in late, but like DrMikeP said, dont be unrealistic, especially know where you stand with GPAs and MCAT. DO schools are getting more competitive each cycle.
