Hey guys,

I'm taking the DAT beginning of august and am wondering should I submit AADSAS now or wait to see how DAT goes (and submit at that time)? Does it make a difference this year as schools are getting DAT scores electronically and don't look at the app anyway till you have a DAT score?

Hey guys,

I'm taking the DAT end of July and am wondering should I submit AADSAS now or wait to see how DAT goes (and submit at that time)? Does it make a difference this year as schools are getting DAT scores electronically and don't look at the app anyway till you have a DAT score. I applied in June last year took the DAT, it didn't do well, and I lost 2,000 in app fees because it was too late too retake that cycle. But I realize now that I was quite under prepared compared to where I'm at now in studying for the DAT, and I'm confident I'll do much better this time. So I'm trying to decide what to do.

Please advise.

Ultimately, you must do what is right for you. How much more do you feel you could improve your score? Are you confident in the 19AA range? My cousin actually took her DAT in July and again in October...she STILL got into 2 dental schools, and her DAT was 19AA and 18PAT. So, there's always a chance. But again, you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck!

apply now.. study your ass off for DAT and make sure you get a good score. you still have plenty of time

apply now!! don't make the mistake i made last year. i took my DAT in august then apply. although i had decent GPA and DAT score, i didn't get into any dental school. later i found out that in many Dental schools, AADSAS application allows you to reserve a spot in the reviewing process , but DAT can't; so if you turn in your DAT first, they might review your app after those who apply earlier.

Why are you giving advice on a topic contrary to your own actions/decisions? You are in a similar situation after all. 😕 Not sure what you're trying to accomplish.

Anyway, I would apply now! Everything will be ready to go, and all that will be waiting is your DAT scores.

Best of luck! 👍

Wow...I did not know this. This is very sound advice.

same boat, but i think im taking my DAT in july. I'm just going to apply and see how it goes? meh, how are your GPA and other stats?

APPLY NOW.

I did the same thing. I applied immediately and then took the DAT Sept 17 and I had two interviews already scheduled Sept 19/20.

Always apply early. Remember it takes AADSAS 4-6 weeks to process your application.

Apply now! That is what i did and I got in 😉 Most of the schools I applied to gave me the secondary application without my DAT score. I was able to get the busy work done with and when my DAT came in I submitted it. I took it LATE August and it was in to the schools by mid-september. I was contacted by some schools the day or so after my DAT got to them. I think if i would have not done so I would be reapplying again this year😎

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm having a dilemma with when I will take my DAT and I'd much rather prefer when I'm done with Organic 2. This way I can apply, study and take my DAT in August.

I love this board!

Apply early!

DAT can be processed later.
