Apply to how many programs?

How many ortho programs are people applying to? In years past most students where I am applied to around 50, other thoughts? Lets say you are about average in terms of scores/research, etc. for matched applicants.

Average applicant, I'm betting 50-60, unless you come from a well-known program and are well connected within the department. It's not always what you know, but who you know.
