I am signed up for the 27th Jan MCAT, but since scores will not be available until at least Feb 27th, I feel that this is too late to apply for their program at VCOM.

On their website they state MCAT scores are not required, but desired. I've been scoring a 23-24 on AAMC practice tests, and would hate to score lower than that to apply...plus applying near March. To be most competitive, would applying early without an MCAT be best? I have a 3.24cGPA (with a 3.80/3.78 last two semester GPAs) and a great upward trend.

I have decent ECs and shadowing/volunteering, plus I work in a laboratory and hold another job as well. Chances look good or grim?

It can't hurt you to apply with the MCAT that you receive on the 27th, it is a post bac program so they are going to be happy with a 23-34. They like to see that you have taken a MCAT and they will prep you for the test again in their program if you desire to retest. I think the best thing to do would be to give them a call and ask if it is better to apply now or later. If you haven't taken care of all your letters of recommendations, transcripts, etc. I would start to apply now because that process is a long one. Good luck, I just applied myself. I had an interview at VCOM-CC but was encouraged to complete this post bac program in the end. Hope this helps.

Do not listen to any part of this.

Do not ever ever take the MCAT unless you are going to score well on it. Ever

And if you don't score well, consider a post bac.

Don't listen to this either

Luelinks - you need an SMP, not a post-bac. If you are scoring 23-24 on practice tests, then do not take it. It is not worth taking it, and getting a crappy score. The average of all your practice tests will be +/- 1 of your actual score for like 90% of people. Very few people score multiple practice 25s, and then somehow pull out a 30+. Only take the MCAT when you can get a good enough score the first time, multiple MCATs scare the ADCOMs, especially if you barely increase between each one

You don't know what you are talking about rob. Look into VCOM's average MCAT and GPA, then advise others. Also you might want to read the parent post and see that Luelinks already took the MCAT so your advice isn't exactly timely. The post bac at VCOM will offer you acceptance into the next years DO program given the fact that, they like you, you have a 3.5 overall in their 34 credit program, and at least a 24 on the MCAT, look it up buddy.

Luelinks- apply. You have Nothing to lose.
