Hey y’all! I unfortunately need to reapply this year, and wanted to hear your thoughts. I got 1 II last year but it didn’t pan out, and I’m working on my MCAT retake. Last year stats GPA 3.5, MCAT 506, decent writing, decent ECs (work full time as a clinical research coordinator), and strong LORs. I am 3 years out of college so I feel my biggest room for improvement is my MCAT.

I am currently struggling with the decision to take the MCAT June 1st in order to get my primary out on July 1st, or push it back 2 weeks to June 14/15 (if a spot opens up). My last 2 practice tests (2 weeks ago snd 1 week ago) have been AAMC FL1 - 510 and AAMC FL3 - 514. Do you think it’s worth it to hammer home my studying and do all I can to try for a higher score by taking the test June 14th and therefor sending out my primary on July 14th, or does applying 2 weeks after July 1st severely hurt my chances?

Thanks in advance!!

Sending your primary out on July 15th will not be late. You could also apply in early June to one throwaway school so your application will already be verified by mid July. Where is your state of residence ?

That’s my plan! I’m going to submit my app for verification June 1st to get that process started so that it’ll hopefully be ready regardless of my test date. I currently live in Tennessee, I plan on applying to US MD and DO schools and haven’t made up my mind about Texas yet (also unfamiliar with that process).

Post your MCAT score here when available.

Will do! I spoke with one of the attendings I work with today and they said the same thing you did, they don’t think the two weeks matters much so I’m going to try and push my test back 2 weeks to ensure I’m ready. Thanks for your insight!

New to SDN here. I'm also in a similar boat. I will submit my primary AMCAS and AACOMAS by the 2nd week of June and take my MCAT on 06/22. I have seen July 4th as a rule of thumb for submitting the primary application. I intend on submitting my primary by June 9th , however after verification, will re-submit on 07/23 after I get my MCAT and add the additional schools.
I will take my CASPER at the end of June and will be pre-writing secondaries between finishing my MCAT and the end of July.

Do you think it's worth pushing up the MCAT by 1 week to 06/15 or should 06/22 be fine?
Do you think I will be late in terms of timeline for MD schools and is there anything you advise I keep in mind with such an approach?
Thanks in advance!
