Can you apply for PGY2 positions that start in 2011 through the ERAS match this year? I am a PGY1 and would like to apply to PM&R positions that begin next year. I would greatly appreciate anybody's thoughts/guidance. Any tips on how to get a spot outside the match?

NYMC is taking apps for PGY2 in 2011. Send your app to them.

Hi there,
I'm a 4th year Osteopathic student applying for PM&R programs through ERAS. My understanding is that if I participate in the AOA match first, and don't get a match, I can then participate in the ACGME match. I then rank one list out of all the combined, categorical, and advanced PM&R programs. However, in the event that I match into an ACGME PGY-2 advanced program without a preliminary year, do I get to scramble for one in that scenario??? Or is that situation not possible?! Please advise. Thanks!

If you don’t get anything in the AOA match, then you may rank both categorical and advanced PM&R programs, as well as supplemental lists of allopathic prelim programs (prelim med, surgery, or transitional year).

If you match into an advanced program, but not a prelim year, then yes, you can scramble for allopathic prelim programs. I believe some states require the Traditional Rotating Intern year for DO licensure though. Check carefully.
