I have some financial aid questions. I'm a 30something married woman applying MD in the current cycle (2013-2014). I understand that come January 2014, my husband and I will be asked a ton of questions about our assets/debt as part of the financial aid application process (both FAFSA and whatever school-specific forms there are). For the past year, my husband has been eager to sign up for new credit cards to earn points/rewards. He pays them all off, but we know that his credit score has taken some dings for the multiple applications.

Questions: Does his credit score have any bearing on whether I am able to take out school loans? (I haven't been playing the credit card game personally, and my credit score has no dings.) Should he stop applying for credit cards now, so that he doesn't have recent applications in January?

Also, is it the case as a married person that any schools loans are really just mine and not ours? I'm not clear on how this all works, so any advice would be welcome.

I'd like to know the answer to these questions as well!

His credit score should not affect your loan eligibility (only GradPlus loan requires credit check). When you fill out FAFSA, everything will be under your name even if you're married.
