Hey guys,

I am applying to 2015 summer class at SGU. I applied April 2014 and haven't heard much back except the adviser saying they aren't even looking at 2015 yet. Has anybody heard anything that has applied that same time. BTW the stats that I applied with are 3.3 GPA and 25 MCAT. Lots of work/clinical experience.
Thanks

In general, SGU fills up its incoming classes much later than US schools. They will continue to accept students until nearly the beginning of August for the August 2014 class. My suggestion would be to contact your admissions counselor and speak with them directly, and see if you can find out if the class is full yet. They have increased enrollment every year, but they have been running into class-size issues the last 2 terms, so I don't know what that means for your chances of getting in this year. A lot of students have been applying recently, the most recent class was approaching 900 I believe. Also, you're probably aware of this, but they also have a class that starts in January that you could definitely get into. The January class is usually much smaller.

Edit: I just realized that you're applying NOW for the 2015 class. For some reason I was thinking you were re-applying for 2015. Anyhow, if your schedule permits, you could potentially still make it into the August 2014 class if you push. If that's what you want to do you should call your admissions counselor. Another option you have is to apply for the January 2015 class and then defer your acceptance 1 term, I think they still allow that. Otherwise you're just going to have to sit tight and wait for a few months, because they're not going to start reviewing applications for August 2015 until September or October of this year.

Gotcha alright I appreciate it. I am currently applying in US schools and applied to Caribbean as back up plans. Thank you for the info.

Sorry to post here, new to SDN!

I'm a graduate student in an MPH program in NYC applying to SGU for August 2015. I have a 21 MCAT (taken twice), 2.8 undergrad GPA, 3.7 Master's GPA, tons of clinical and research work, with a publication as well. I have global health experience from undergrad and my Master's program as well so I applied to the KPTGSP at SGU as well. Lots of EC's and leadership positions from undergrad. How are my chances looking? Family connections to SGU as well.

Your Masters GPA is probably your saving grace. You might get AEP'd, but I think your chances are good. Investigate the City Doctor's scholarship program if you're a NYC resident. NYC has a strong relationship with SGU, be sure to emphasize your association with the city and talk about wanting to return to practice.
