applying IR/DR, 4th year questions

Hey all,

Just wanted to ask a couple of questions about applying IR/DR and 4th year schedule:

1. I wont be able to do a DR rotation until after ERAS application but will already have IR rotation and IR away done - is this an issue for applications at all (seeming not as interested in DR etc.)? Not sure I can move up the DR elective/rotation to before ERAS.
2. I am planning on getting letters from a research mentor (rads), clinical IR rotation, medicine elective, and vascular surgery so far. Is it better to have both a DR and IR letter if my research letter will already be in DR (ex. drop the medicine letter for clinical DR)?
3. How many aways is typical for IR? Is 1 away at a mid-tier place enough (close to location I want to be for residency)? Or is it better to try to get another one at a better institution? I am not planning on getting letters from the away rotations because I will have enough from my home institution, but wasn't sure if people typically try to get letters from their aways in IR
