Hello, if anyone could give me a quick look at what I'm applying with this cycle and tell me if I look ok or if y'all have any advice I would really appreciate it!

Stats: 4.0 GPA, 519 MCAT

Clinical: ~200 hrs of scribing, like maybe 20-30 hours of hospital volunteering

ECs: Officer position for scholarship org., TA for Intro Biochem Lab, 1-2 committee chairs for other orgs.

Research: A lot of time in one lab, ~200-300 hours, been there for almost 2 years now. No publication but I feel I have a lot of experience to talk about in this field.

Volunteering: Volunteerism through scholarship org., maybe 50 hours outside of that? This is area of least confidence but hope that writing makes up for it.

Recs: 5 strong recs so far, feel confident about them.

I am a Texas resident and plan to apply almost exclusively in-state, with top chase schools being UT Southwestern and Dell.

If anyone has any advice or thoughts please let me know, I really appreciate any and all help!

For my volunteering, I helped raise funds for Palestine Children's Relief Fund (PCRF) by a variety of methods, including organizing and coordinating fundraising events on campus and spreading awareness of the charity foundation and its impact to those present at our events. In addition, I participated in a variety of volunteering events with the Terry Scholar's Organization focused on giving back to groups in need, such as feeding the homeless and giving back to the local city community.

If you were doing fundraising but not actually meeting the people your funds will help, the TMDSAS schools will screen you out for not spending time helping in your own community face to face. You have great stats but could still be passed over for this.
What can you do in the next 3 months to put some community service hours in your resume?

I'm unsure as to what I should do going forward, I have tried applying to several prominent volunteering organizations but no luck, do you have any recommendations? I would like to get involved with helping the Hispanic community in some way as it fits my narrative and background really well but am unsure as to how to get involved quickly for the next three months. Thank you for the help!

I will preface this, I'm not from texas, nor am I hispanic. I don't know what you mean by "prominent volunteering organizations". I dont think it needs to be something extravagant. Local soup kitchen, some volunteering with unhoused population, meal boxes for food insecure families. Think less prominent volunteer organizations and more local grassroot things that gets you face to face with people in the community, in your community.

Go to your local United Way office and tell them you want to get busy and you’re fluent in Spanish.
They will find you something

I bet your campus office for community service and engagement can help you. Similarly the community service office at your hospital should help. You shouldn't be in a service orientation desert unless you live in a desert. If you know the Hispanic/Latino community, you know what and who addresses their community needs. This shouldn't be difficult especially in Texas.

Justserve.org, volunteer match, other online searches for face to face volunteering.
