I'll be applying this year but I won't take the MCAT until August, I just simply won't be ready in time for the April exam. I will have everything else done long before then (letters, transcripts sent, etc.). I'll probably recieve my MCAT scores in mid October or thereabouts and will send them off to aacomas right away. Do you guys think this is a little bit too late for this upcoming years application cycle? Schools probably won't even review my application until November sometime. I'd really hate to wait another year considering I'm kind of getting up there in age. Thanks for the input.

Lots of people apply with the August MCAT for the year they are applying.

I am also just taking the August MCAT, it won't hurt your chances to have the scores sent during Oct/Nov as opposed to the summertime so don't worry oh and if you gpa qualifies I've heard schools won't at all mind the wait til they receive your score. I have a question though - approximately what month at the latest should we send out the application, transcript & recommendations and also what month do you really suggest to send them because I've been told to get all three of those out by around May of this year, just wondering if this is true? Thanks.

I'm an Aug test taker. I did fine. However, there's always the risk. If something makes your app delay, it's scary. 🙂 Make sure everything else is ready, especially LORs. When the secondary comes, try to do it right away. You can search a few to do ahead.

I'm also an august MCATer. Just have your paperwork in before they recieve your August MCAT. It will work out.

HaHa everyone is saying the same thing.

There is an osteopathic August MCATer thread I think. I'm an August MCATer and agree with the above. Take the MCAT in August if it will be better prepared.

A "late" application for a DO school would have to be sometime after January.

I was interviewed during the very first interview week of my school, and they went off of my August MCAT.

I wasn't an August MCATer but I had to wait for a transcript to come and I didn't get my application processed until almost November. That being said, a lot of people do it, you will be fine.

id take april =( august just is a pain in the butt. everythings slow. if youre gonna make yourself a schedule and plan out your goals might as well make it april since most people elect august because theyre lazy and dont wanna study hardcore yet. if you register for april youd coerce yourself to study (unless you had some crazy credits or something). ive also heard april has a kinder grading curve because most students prepare less in relation to august (in which people go 8 hours a day for the entire summer). just my thoughts though!
