hi. im a high school student who wants to go to a pharmacy school.
i was gonna go to a 6 year college but i cant afford it....🙁
so im just going to go to a state college and apply to a pharmacy school.
my question is :
is it hard to get into a pharmacy school after just completing pre requisites in 2/3 years than after doing undergrad?
thanks!

I assume you are asking if it's better to get a bachelor's before applying to pharmacy school. I would recommend applying near to your completion of prereqs which would most likely coincide to when you would be able to take the PCAT. If you don't get accepted then I would continue working on your BS/BA and reapply the next year hopefully improving your gpa and PCAT to be more competitive.

Having a bachelor's is not a requirement for most schools but does look favorable. If you've got a great gpa and PCAT then you will most likely get accepted before your completion of your degree.

Unless u r in Cali, u don't really need a Bachelors degree. all u need is a good score in PCAT and all of your Prereqs completed before matriculation. Another positive tip is get sone experience as a pharmacytech or by doing some volunteer work. Also most school don't really tell students but your chances of getting accepted are way more if your prereqs get completed in the spring session of the year you want to enter the program. In other words you don't have a large number of pending prereqs at the time of interviews.👍👍

is it possible to work as a pharmacy tech when you are just a student?

How would it be less expensive to go for 4 years and then 4 years? Even if the bachelors is cheap to get, pharmacy school is probably going to be pretty expensive. Can't you take out loans or get financial aid for the 6 year program? I can't afford to pay up front, but I am allowed to go because I get a great amount of financial aid.

Especially since you're still undergrad, you may be eligible for Perkins. Btw, isn't this your 3rd thread about the same topic lol?

well actually i was referring to purdue which is 2+4.
and im out of state which costs me 40k.
i received about 11000 of grants and scholarship, 2500 of work study, 19000 of parent plus loan, and the rest for student loans.
i think this is too much... still... i mean i will be able to save money and time. but what if i dont get into pharm school...
also i feel like i will be in too much of stress thinking im in debt forever and try to save all the money and be stingy until i graduate lol.

also i was thinking of goin to a state college, finishing pre requisites in 2 years and then applying to a pharmacy college.... i know its gonna be hard but i think debt free is less risky...

this is the hardest dilema ive ever had in my life. ughh🙁
honestly im still not sure... and i have a week and a half to decide...

i was trying to ask if its better to finish undergrad in 4 years then apply.
or if theres any disadvantages to just finish the pre req and apply.. lol

If you're worried about loans, then apply immediately. If you continue 2 additional years of undergrad in order to attain a bachelors, you're forgoing those 2 years of a pharmacist salary. And it appears money is your biggest concern. On the other hand, I would advocate having a bachelors degree under your belt if you are concerned with having that edge to compete with other applicants. But if you do well undergrad, there's no big reason to do so.

thanks! i hope i can do it^^
