I have a question of someone can help me please! I have a 3.0 gpa and I failed and received four F's on my transcript but I retook three and going to retake the last class in the summer. Do I still have a chance to get into dental school? Will they look at the F's and say no? Please help!!!!

Thank you

4 F's? No. Your chances this year are extremely low.

You've got to invest in more education.

What should I do? I retook the classes and received A's and B's. I will be graduating this year and wanting to take the Dat. Will I ever get into dental school?

It's possible. Score high on the DAT. Take Post bacc courses. Write a killer personal statement. Get good LORs.
Is there a reason you have so many F's? If you manage to get an interview they will ask about it.

What is your GPA? Both overall and science GPA.

Although I know a few cases where people have gotten D's and ended up in dental school without a post-bacc or masters, I am of the opinion Fs require a post bacc or SMP as well as a good DAT score.

I worked around 40 hours a week and family responsibilities made it hard to do good in school.

Be sure to mention this on your application and during your interviews.

I feel like I ask this every time this type of thread comes up, but is the 3.0 calculated by replacing the F's when you retook the courses, or including the F's as well?

I forgot to ask this as well. Yeah OP, both original grades for the classes and their retakes count towards your GPAs. Now that I think about it 3.0 is really high for 4 Fs.

Agreed. My one F destroyed my GPA, especially my science. I can't imagine what four would do.

If your school considers only the retake grades, then your transcript will show the GPA considering only your retake grades. But remember, AADSAS calculates every single grade for all the classes, including those F's.

Are those Fs in your science classes or no? If they are not, dental school adcom may dismiss them.

But yeah, why didn't you just withdraw them instead of taking Fs?
