I'm beginning my third year and i'm nowhere near deciding what i want to go into. I was wondering if anyone out there had an opinion on applying to more than one type of residency program. For instance, Internal medicine is high on my list, but i'm also considering more competitive things such as EM, Gas, radiology. What if i applied to both the Internal med. and EM program at a the same university. Do different progamrs usually "check" to see if the applicant has applied to other programs? I'm guessing if it were somehow revealed that a person was doing this, that that would be very detrimental to the applicant because it shows a lack of devotion or whatnot. Any thoughts? thanks.
