Hello everyone!

Happy Holidays!

So, as I am almost finishing up with the undergrad, I am concerned what I should do.

I will be graduating with barely cgpa 3.0 or a bit lower and sgpa around 2.78

I need to retake Ochem because I got a C- in it. Can I take UNE online course without Lab? or UCI summer class without lab? UCI told me I did not have to take Lab because I passed ochem at my school.

Should I just take CC classes for retakes next year or postbac?

Would one year CC retakes be enough for me to apply to DO school following year?

If post bac is an option, I'm thinking about applying the programs at LECOM, PCOM, and LMUDCOM. or maybe Western COMP MSMS.

I will be taking MCAT soon and have been scoring pretty high on the practice exams.

And, I think I have pretty solid ECs if not strong.

Thank you!

Retake all Cs/Ds/Fs, make sure they are the same type of course and hours so grade replacement applies. The NEW MCAT starts in February, you need to prepare for this one, which is NOT the same exam as what you have propably been studying for. New test has biochem and other topics on it as well!

You really need to get your cGPA/sGPA above 3.2, pref higher. Keep at it.

Just make sure whatever retakes you take fulfil the AACOMAS requirements for retakes (are equal or greater credits as the original, etc. - this might affect whether or not you need to take the lab especially if they are not shown as separate courses on your undergrad transcripts).

I would not recommend doing a post-bac just yet. You really need to demonstrate that you can do well in courses, and post-bac programs, while easier than med school, tend not to be easy. Doing poorly in them will kill any chances you have at getting into a US med school. On top of that a post-bac/SMP is mainly good if you want to attend a specific medical school.

If you can do enough strategic retakes for anything/everything <B- to get your GPAs above 3.0, and if possible in the 3.2-3.3 range, and you do well on the MCAT, you should be able to get into some DO school. When you say you're doing well on MCAT practice exams (I'm assuming those are full-length exams) what does that mean? >25, >30, etc. In any case, just do as well as you can on it. Good luck!
