hi all,

so my slew of Canadian school rejections came in last weekend...a fun weekend indeed. I was pessimistic because of my low GPA but was hoping that my grad school performance, MCAT and ECs would somewhat compensate...I guess that was naive on my part.

Anyways applying abroad has long been on my mind since I graduated my BSc. I've done really well in grad school (several awards, 3.7+ and a publication submitted, fingers crossed for acceptance!!!).

I will be applying to Aussie schools this spring and have spoken to several admin staff at various schools but I want to give Ireland a shot as well. They are roughly the same price I know, but Ireland just feels closer to home (but I know they are top notch schools!)

I'm confused with ABP though. My BSc gpa (which is very low...think of a number below 3.0...mine is lower than what you're thinking) is my biggest concern. The ABP guy told me that I should still apply because my MCAT 29S and MSc GPA were good but I'm skeptical. It's expensive to apply to so many schools and quite honestly, I don't want to waste the money if it's THAT much of a long shot.

Thoughts? Be gentle...

I would apply, but in your situation I would be more comfortable with a 30+ mcat. May I ask how you managed to get into an MSc with such a low ugpa? Anyway, Australia might be a little easier to get into.

And I think everyone is confused with the ABP.

On the Atlantic Bridge Program (ABP) application form they have a box for postgraduate gpa and a box for undergraduate gpa. So they will see both if you choose to apply this way in Sept...

Furthermore, although the deadline has passed for the ABP it has not passed for UCC, UCD, RCSI, and Limerick GEP (4 year programs). You will have to go to their websites and apply directly to the university. I believe the deadline is mid February or some of them, some may have just passed. Go check it out, you may save yourself a year.

I had pretty high grades in senior level courses but did poorly in my early years so it brought everything down. My university based admissions on senior level courses for admission.

Crap I didn't know the deadline had passed!

double check with them, it is officially passed but they might cut u some slack, if not then apply directly.
