Applying to MD schools with no plans to take Math or English classes before graduation?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You need to check and see if the schools you are applying to will accept AP credit for prerequisites. My school, and I'm sure many others, will not accept them.

Most school will accept them as long as it is explicitly written on the transcript. Like "AP English and Language- 3credits" otherwise it is a no-go

Each medical school sets there own requirements and adherence to those requirements. I have two previous lengthy posts on the subject with example links. Safest path is CC class after graduation, but check at each school's website on this as the requirements may not be entirely straight forward

So should I not graduate early so I can take math and english classes that final semester? If not, can I just take them in a community college if required?

You may also be able to take them online. I emailed a good 20 schools about taking English online and none had a problem. The math may be a little more difficult to get permission to do online. If you want to take these classes online so you can work while taking them, email the schools to which you want to apply and ask (obviously email them before enrolling in the class so you aren't wasting money).

Otherwise, I would still graduate early. Taking 2 classes on your own will cost $3K at most and most semester tuitions are a lot higher than that.

OP should look at his/her MSAR, which like all prospective medical school applicants, has faithfully purchased and carefully read as it is the required textbook for applying to medical school. This will show what schools he may need math/english, if CC credits are acceptable, or if online can substitute. Since there is no general rule that will cover all schools, the OP needs to research this with the schools he/she is applying to.
Yeah, that's why I said email (many things about req were wrong on MSAR when I had it and a lot of school websites don't clarify online vs not online classes)

Any chance you're at Emory? The way you did English sounds like how they do it. Anyway, I had to deal with the same annoying English system and basically it's safer to just take English at a random cc or local U. Same goes for math.
