Applying to OOS schools

Is it worth applying to out of state schools (US) that accept less than 20% out of state if my stats are just at or right above their averages?

It's not worth applying to a ton of them, but if there are some that really interest you it could be worth applying to them. Check into which schools reclassify their residency for years 2-4, because if you're accepted to one of those you'll get in-state tuition those years. Also, it depends on if you're from a state that has its own in-state public school, and if not, whether or not nearby schools have agreements with your state for admissions purposes (WICHE and similar stuff like that).

Short answer: yes if you really want to go there and aren't just casting a wide net to up chances of acceptance. Private schools are better suited for that.

I'm in North Carolina and go to UNC undergrad, so will definitely be applying here and ECU, but I haven't actually heard of agreements with other state schools that might be available. Is this only offered to students in states that don't have state dental schools?
