Hello, everybody! I am currently a pre-pharmacy student working on a couple more classes to complete the list of pre-reqs. I just wanted to know how to properly apply to pharmacy school. Do all pharmacy schools use the program, Pharmcas? I'm pretty sure that Pharmcas covers most of the pharmacy schools, plus the supplemental applications for each desired school. Just wanted to make sure... Your advice/help would be appreciated! 🙂

Yes, you are correct. The vast majority of schools use PharmCAS as their application service, but there are a few that do not, so you want to make sure.

Yes, each school (at least most of them) have a supplemental application that you also need to submit.

Any other questions?

Awesome thank you!! Yes, a couple more questions... How early should I submit my application? (I'm still working on getting my LORs and I'm about to take the PCAT next month) Also, what would be a reasonable PCAT score that would give me a good chance of getting into pharmacy school, being that my GPA is a 3.8?

A PCAT in the range of 70-80% composite would be great!

The sooner you submit your PharmCAS app the better! Keep in mind you CAN submit your app even though you are waiting for your LORs and PCAT score. I cannot emphasize this point enough.

Really??? So submitting the application in July without PCAT scores or LORs would give me a better chance than submitting in October with everything completed?

P.S. sorry for all the questions!!

It takes PharmCAS about 3-5 weeks to calculate your GPA, so if you submit in October, schools will not get your application until November.

Many students make the mistake of waiting for LORs and/or PCAT scores to be added to their app before submitting, but this is not necessary. If you are not waiting for Summer grades and you are happy with your Personal Statement then there is no reason to wait.

PharmCAS will automatically send your LORs and PCAT scores to the schools once they become available.

No worries about all the questions...we are here to help 🙂

Awesome! So I should probably apply right after my 2nd summer session, right? That way I can have those grades on my transcript as well.. Oh, and is it okay to have some of my pre-reqs pending? Because I won't have all my pre-reqs completed until the end of the spring semester..

Yeah, I would add my Summer grades to PharmCAS before submitting. It will give the committee more to work with, especially if they are pre-req classes you are taking.

Taking pre-req classes over the Spring semester is no problem at all. Some schools even allow for classes to be taken the Summer right before classes begin in August.

Best of luck to you! 👍

Thanks for everything, nomad339!
