Applying to start 2011, when can I start setting up my application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think they usually open the apps up to start completing in early May.

You can set yourself up to pretty much have to copy/ paste things into the appropriate fields. Finalize your personal statement. Make an Excel document of all your ECs. Things like this. So that all you pretty much have to do is click "Submit" in June.

On a similar note, I was recently told that schools rarely change the prompts on their secondaries. Can someone confirm or refute this?

Go look at the application threads for individual schools from the past several years. It seems that changes are infrequent. I say, write your essays now if you have the time. Even if some of the prompts change, some are bound to stay the same and time is of the essence with secondaries.

So what exactly does the AMCAS ask you for?

-15 ECs
-A Personal Statement
-LORs?
-GPA? -and how does that work? do they need transcripts? or do i just enter my GPA? or do I have to enter the grades for each class?

Is there any in-depth resouce that can break the AMCAS down section by section?

I believe AMCAS opens in early May. There was a huge "AMCAS Questions" thread from this year's cycle. Do a search.

I would say start it now. You can start ur app a year early like I did (dunno if its still open) and not send it until next year. Then print it out and work on it at ur leisure throughout the year so u can fine tune it and make it as strong as possible.
