Applying to two specialities

Is it possible to apply to two seperate subspecialities if you cannot decide between the two? I mean, if I applied to both anesthesia and gen surg at a particular institution would this hurt my chances at either or both? Would the committees for the two specialities know? Has anyone ever done this?
