So, I'm not ready for med school but am trying to apply to some post back programs. However, I'm wondering if applying to them will do any harm. I guess I'm not a shoe in but I could theoretically get in according to their requirements. If i DONT get in, does that hurt me? The only reason I ask is because I've heard med schools dont like it when you apply too many times. Thanks

I don't think they have any way of knowing how many times you apply to a post-bac, I think you are mixing two things. They don't like multiple application to med school, for example some have a 2-3 time application limit. With that said, just looking at UWSOM's numbers, the number of reapplicants accepted was the same as first time, so it doesn't appear to hurt you that much.

Oh ok, cool. It does ask in most of the applications if you've applied there, though.

Right, but the "schools of medicine" are generally different than other programs. For example if I applied to UW undergrad and UW somegradprogram , I wouldn't answer "yes" to saying I applied to UWSOM. They are asking if you're a previous applicant to THAT school for the most part (but make sure to double check what they are actually asking)

Med schools have no way of knowing what other grad programs you're applying to.

Reapplicants to a particular medical school are held to a higher standard at the same school, because they expect that you've improved yourself in the second go around.

But if you're applied to schools-A-G in one app cycle, and then H-K in the next, that won't be held against you.
