Hello, I have 3 kids and was wondering how the dental schools will look at me in the application, interviewing and acceptance processes. It could go two ways in my mind. They could think, "Wow, this guys different, and has some family goals." Or "boy, is this guy going to be screwed if he ever tried to get through dental school, we don't want him." What do you guys think?

Hey I applied to dental school with 2 kids, got in, and finished. Having kids is a good thing. It'll give you an easy topic to build relationships with your patients. Not only that it is a benefit to have the experience with kids before you go and do a pedo rotation.
Good luck,
James Luk

I applied with four kids. I had eight interview invites, went to five and got accepted to four schools. I don't think having kids was a problem. If anything, they see you as a mature individual who will stay on task and do well because you are motivated to provide for your family.

Kids help, sometimes, most of the interviewers have kids and been there. Having a family life helps keeps a balance and keep me focused. Plus my professors love when I bring my son to visit and the assistants at school adore him. JUst make sure you spend time with your family, It gets tough sometimes, especially around exams. But i DON"T study on weekends! That is family time. I know I'm lookimg forward to 4 day work weeks and 2-3 vacations a year!
