Hello guys
I am new to the forum and is thinking about applying to medical school now, and am wondering about my chances.
A little bit about myself: I am a 5th year biology grad student, and want to get a MD degree in order to take care of patients and do translational research. I just have a paper accepted by one of the best journals, and everyone I talked to was telling me that I can get in anywhere with that publication, but I don't know if they are serious, joking, or just offering words of encouragement.
I have competitive grades as undergrad at a good school, okay grades as a grad student at a good school to. But besides good publication record and research experience, I haven't done that much in volunteering/shadowing, since fear of getting scooped keeps my effort 100% at research work.
I can imagine that my futures will be medical scientist in a research/hospital setting, but I was wondering what are my chances if I apply now. Also, I will be taking MCAT in the summer.
Thank you guys!
