Hi,
I'm currently a junior and want to apply this summer. However, by that time I will not have completed the Physics (Physics 1 and 2 with lab) prerequisite requirement. I was wondering if someone could please tell me how much this would affect my chances of getting accepted/interviewed.
Thanks.

You need physics for the oat. Some people have taken the oat after only taking physics 1, although there is physics 2 info on the oat as well. Maybe you could take at least physics 1 over the summer.

Too an extent, having a few outstanding prerequisites shouldn't harm your chances, as long as you are able to finish them before you enter your school. For example, Berkeley says "All prerequisite courses do not have to be completed at the point of application, but the probability of admission may be reduced if more than four prerequisite courses are outstanding." Check with the school you are applying with.

But yea, you will need physics for the OAT. If you think you can self-study it or have a high school background, all the power to you.

I applied this fall while I still had 2 prerequisites incomplete and none of the schools I applied to gave me a problem. The schools just expect you to send them updated transcripts once you complete the courses. I would definitely look into taking physics over the summer though because you want to be as prepared as possible for the oat. I know summer courses can be a pain because I took organic chem 1 and 2 last summer, but it is definitely worth it in the long run. Best of luck 🙂

that's fine. most schools accept students after completing only 3 yrs undergrad, no degree, as long as all requirements are complete before you would attend opt school. I applied September of my junior year of undergrad w/o many prerequisites complete and I still got in on the basis that they would be complete by the end of the year and my GPA didn't go down a lot or anything like that.

get a OAT destroyer for physics section, and every section, really! it helps so much to do actual problems than just read the kaplan and do a few probs in comparison. good luck!:luck:
