Hi,

I searched around and couldn't find quite my situation... So I completed my primary awhile back and had 4 schools request a supplementary application. I have not taken OChem 2, and wasn't planning on doing so. My first choice (DMU) doesn't require OChem 2, but the other 3 schools all do. Are they only asking me to fill out the supplemental for the application fee? Is it worth it to fill them out anyway?

Thanks

If the school requires orgo 2, then you will need to take it before you start medical school. The schools that require it may be under the assumption that you plan on taking it. Bottom line: If the school requires a class, you will need to take the class before they let you start.

if u apply and will be taking the ochem2 b4 matriculating its fine. but if you dont plan to take it and the school requires it, then it doesnt make sense for you to even apply.

i dunno...jus my 2 cents. just take it b4 u matriculate and that opens up ur options for applying to.

There's a reason they require it. It wasn't a pre-req for Biochem, but he'd mention stuff that maybe made more sense or was easier to follow with Organic II.

In my experience, Organic II was actually easier than Org. I. You just apply alot of the same concepts over and over. Organic I was one of the worst classes ever. You already survived that!

And obviously, taking 2 is going to open more doors for you. One school is really taking a chance. Why not take the class and give yourself all the extra options?

Definitely take Organic II. If it's a required class, the admissions committee will catch it during the review of the secondary application and/or final selection review. The class is not too bad. I took Organic III about 3 1/2 years after taking Organic II. The class was mostly just memorizing reactions. It had very little to do with stereochemistry.

You can do it! 👍👍👍
