What do you guys think is the appropriate length of an outpatient appointment for an adult patient seen in continuity clinic during RESIDENCY (which includes finding an attending to staff the patient, going to get the patient from waiting room). For residents or previous residents on here, how long were your continuity slots for adults in outpatient clinic as residents?

Ours were 30 minutes for revisit, 90 for intake.

25 min for 'medchecks'.

Similar to OPD's experience, I have 30 min for med mgmt f/u appts, and 60-90 min for intakes.

At my program, we do not routinely staff pts with an attending in real time, so that does not factor into my time management. For my new intakes, I staff them with an attending and/or present them to the multidisciplinary team later the same day. For my f/u appts, there is no formal requirement to staff them. I have 2-3 hrs per week of supervision (in addition to my separate therapy supervisor) and I can discuss challenging or problematic cases during that time.

Med management clinic: thirty minutes for follow-up.
Med management Intake : ninety minutes:

Therapy (with or without med man) Intake: ninety minutes
Follow-up: fifty minutes.

Our program currently gives 50 minutes for intakes, regardless of the clinic. It can be done, but ninety would be better ( 60 for interview, thirty to chart and have pt sign consent forms, write rx's). We have 50 minutes for f/u therapy cases (excellent amount of time) and 20 min for f/u med man (not enough time).

Adult Clinic
New patient Eval: 2 hours
Return visits with "meds only" (I always sneak CBT in somehow😉): 30 minutes
Psychotherapy: 60 minutes
