My question isn't really about any particular school's secondary, its a more general one.

I'm noticing that a good number of the secondaries ask questions that are very similar to the personal statement and some of the experience descriptions I gave on my primary. In the cases where you do run into those sort of overlaps, what should the approach be? Should I just write about the same stuff, but try to do so more thoroughly or should I write about something else? It would seem weird to do the latter just for the sake of it, but I'm not really sure how we're expected to proceed.

If you feel you can expand a bit when talking about something that is already mentioned on your personal statement then you shouldn't hesitate to do so. However, if you find yourself repeating then talking about a different experience will be preferable.
