APSA: Hurricane Katrina Information (Please visit http://www.physicianscientists.org/ for more up to date information)
Due to recent events from the Hurricane Katrina disaster and its impact on the medical institutions in the Gulf Coast area, the American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) is currently gathering a list of MD/PhD programs who have volunteered their support in helping displaced MD/PhD students in locating new homes to continue their MD-PhD training.
If you are an MD-PhD student who is seeking a potential institution to join, please send an email to [email protected] with your name, contact information, year in the program, your department, your institution, and the institutions you would like to get in touch with. If you can't reach us via email, leave a voicemail message at the following number (312) 239-0928 with the same information.
If you are an MD-PhD program and are willing and able to provide support to displaced in MD-PhD students in helping find compatible matches in terms of research, please send an email to [email protected] with your contact information and any other relevant information. If you can't reach us via email, leave a voicemail message at the following number (312) 239-0928 with the same information.
Once we have your information, we will be in touch within 24 hours with the appropriate contact information you need to contact. We will also directly pass on your information to the pertinent programs. Although we certainly hope to help as many displaced MD-PhD students. Due to the unique nature of the MD-PhD training, these schools have volunteered to help match potential students with potential research labs at their respective institutions based on research topics, stage in their program, and available resources. APSA would like to state that all arrangements are being done on a temporary and case by case basis, please contact APSA so that we can best coordinate our efforts with the participating MD-PhD Programs. If you have any information regarding currently affected students or programs, please email us at [email protected] as soon as possible. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.
