Hey everyone I have a 3 week break between summer school and fall quarter. I've taken most of the prereqs and am planning to buy the destroyer. Is it doable and will the destroyer be enough study material? (Thanks in advance)

I don't think its enough time! i needed the full 90 days to get through the entire destroyer watch chad's videos and work on practice exams. I wanted to make sure I covered all areas and cover all topics the best I could. It's up to you, if you feel strong with the information you've carried from your classes, good luck! My recomendatio would be to give yourself enough time to practice before you go into the exam.

I crammed for two weeks and did fine. However, I always studied hard in undergrad, so I really knew most of the stuff.

He has a package for the OAT, covers every subject. He has videos outlines and quizzes To prepare you. I mean, I took my time, studied everyday, but I chose to review in that much depth. I bought the AP Barrons to review over bio and top score for my practice exams. I studied hard for my classes but I wanted to make sure it was fresh in my head. I didn't want to take it a second time. Went through the entire destroyer book. I take the OAT in exactly one week, I feel real good just have 2 more Practice tests to go. I think you should take the OAT sample exam off the ADA website to get a good feel on where you are. Just google OAT sample exam and it'll come up first as a PDF. Hope I could help ya! Good luck

When I got out of school in May I planned on trying to work about 30 hours a week and study on my time off, but that didn't work out too well. Thanks to electronic health records compliance, we got a new system at work and I ended up working overtime for most of June and the beginning of July. I wound up studying about 10 hours a day 5-6 days a week for roughly 3 weeks and I did well on the test. I did all of the QR and bio part of destroyer, most of the organic section and about half of the gen chem section. I did watch all of Chad's gen chem and physics videos, and I was amazed at how much I learned from him. I think if you watch his videos and get through as much of Destroyer as you can you'll be fine. 3 weeks is most likely not enough time. it's not even enough time to take all the practice tests and thoroughly understand them let alone learn the material in general.

If you're pressed for time make sure you do a lot of OAT Destroyer problems. THose turned out to be what helped me the most.

Yeah I got the destroyer and 3 weeks is definitely not enough. I'm using chads videos to go through the material and then I'll go over destroyer.

3 weeks is enough if you know most of the material and need to get accustomed to the testing parameters. If you don't know a significant amount already you're probably better off taking around 2-3 months to really get the material down.

I was going to start studying now for the OAT but was wondering what would be enough time to take it and not to apply too late to the program. Any info you guys can share with me would help 😀

Have you shadowed or worked for an optometrist?
this is important b/c you will need a letter of recommendation from them, and it would be nice to give them enough time to know you and to allow them write a letter. Most deadlines are by March

Studying for the OAT is hard to say, it depends how well you did in your undergrad and how well you know and remember that info. If you did good and do remember then a couple of months of lots of practice may be fine. If not then you will really need to brush up.

You also have to write an essay, get transcripts sent in, letters from teachers and optometrist.

I am just trying to be realistic, I have no idea how much you have done. So please give more info.
