are 72 credits of upward trend considered reinvention despite GPA?

Hi all,

I'm in the process of reinvention and by the time I graduate, i'll have about 72 credits of an upward trend, so far I've gotten a 4.0 in the first ~20 credits out of the 72. I was originally going to double major to bring up my GPA as much as I can but if I continue to maintain a 3.8+ GPA throughout these next 50 credits, I should be a little above 3.4 for both cGPA and sGPA. It's also worth mentioning these 72 credits consist of all my upper division electives, as well as my entire chem and physics sequences.

Is a post-bacc or SMP necessary if the last 72 credits of my degree will be a 3.8+ and granted I get a good MCAT score? My approx GPA would be about 3.4.
I have a clinical job, forecasted to get about 4000 hours by time of applying, as well as a small research position and consistent volunteering. I'm also primarily interested in M.D if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the resource! Does AAMC account for both MD and DO schools? Also, I'm Mexican-American. I'm just worried that even if I ace all these credits at the end of my degree, the 3.4 will look pretty bad.
No, AAMC is just accounting for MD Matriculants. Also, you're URM so you can see from this graph below the average MCAT for matriculants

1) no, only MD schools
2) you'll be fine as a urm

Answer is yes, and post-bac or SMP won't be needed. Rising GPA trends are always good.

To add
1) 60 credits (ie 2 years of work) or more of grades is sufficient to show work ability
2) focusing on single GPA number, especially for reinvented students is misleading at best. Ignore it
3) do not risk your rising GPA by taking on too much
4) with solid MCAT, solid EC, and URM will make you a reasonable candidate
Thank you. In terms of final GPA, are you saying that even if I end up with a GPA closer to around 3.3, consistent with a great upward trend (3.7+) and MCAT, I'll still have a chance at MD schools? Even though I know 70 credits of 3.8+ is very good, it just worries me that even if I get just a few B's then i'll be at risk of being closer to a 3.3 regardless of maintaining a great trend.
