i did not apply to med school through premed advisor, (I was an individual applicant) and was accepted without a premed committee letter. The premed advisor absolutely hates me, and does not know i have been accepted.

However, other faculty do know (whom I am good friends with) that I have been accepted. Can that premed advisor indirectly find out through them about my acceptance (is that a violation of FERPA)? And if the premed advisor gets to know, can the premed advisor call the school to complain about me believing I did not follow his recommendations about courses to take that fulfill medical school requirements? (is that a violation of FERPA) Finally, can a med school revoke my admission because of what a premed advisor says?

I have successfully word for word met all the academic and technical requirements posted on the medical schools website needed for entry. Sure, i did courses that did not make the premed advisor happy, but it legally fulfilled requirements for admission as posted on the school's website.

I very much doubt that any medical school would revoke your acceptance based on the whims of your adviser. The school saw your application and decided that they wanted you, regardless of any committee letter.

Congratulations!

OP, turn off the computer and get outside today and enjoy the sunshine.

This should not even be on your list of concerns.

Enjoy your remaining freedom before med school starts...wasting precious time on non-existing issues like this is silly.

I highly doubt that the pre-med committee would go to the trouble of trying to sabotague your acceptance. If they do, get a lawyer.

There is only one solution. Send the premed advisor a cadaver hand in an anonymous letter then kill a hooker off craigslist.

You said you are going to boston, right?

Pre-med advisers aren't the med school police. You went independent, and consequently the rest of your life is none of their business. If an adviser went through the steps you describe, I would seriously question their stability and/or sanity...as would your school should they receive such a phone call.

Technically, by federal law, unless you give your written permission, a school employee can not divulge anything to outsiders other than your name, address, phone number, hometown, college major, date of graduation and a couple of other bits of information such as your height & weight if you are on a sports team.

School counselors are judged by the number of people who get into medical school so it would not be in the counselor's best interest to derail your matriculation.

Relax and enjoy yourself before med school begins.

Paranoia, anyone? I went to my premed advisor and told him exactly how I'm going to get into med school - which as a non-traditional, was unorthodox to his suggestions to me. Why would you even think he hates you because of that? Not every student takes 100% of the advice they give... in fact, you'd be a complete tool to do that.

The best part of being accepted is rubbing it in a "haters" face.

1. They will not take back your acceptance
2. Your pre-med advisor would not dare call and complain to the school(s) you got accepted to for something that minor.

As long as you got accepted to a school that didn't say premed committee letter REQUIRED, then you're fine.

Submit a letter to your dean calmly explaining why the pre-med adviser should not work there and how he/she has failed you, and possibly many other students. Mention your acceptance. CC your adviser.

If you do not take action, then you got the adviser you deserve. It is the responsibility of the student to police those who are paid to help you.

I don't think it is possible for the medschool to rescind your acceptance if your application was truthful. Doesn't matter what your adviser thinks of you. Nevertheless, if you are paranoid about this, you can submit the letter to your college dean after your first day of classes at the medschool.

Pre-med advisers are useless if not detrimental to one's application. I had 2 of them and they knew next to nothing. Plus, if he/she called the school you got into and said nasty things to them, I'm sure you could sue him/her for libel or something.

if you do this you're an idiot....no reason to burn bridges on your way out....the adviser is doing his job to the best of his ability and you are in no place to "police" him....you didn't take his advice and things worked out for you but that doesn't mean his advice is wrong or that he was trying to screw you....it just means there are many different routes to the same goal and these advisers usually give the most conservative tried and true advice because if they advise you to take risks and you fail you will inevitably blame them.

agreed. seek professional psychological help for your paranoia

I think that you'll be fine. Unless you're omitting some important detail (like having gotten into trouble for cheating), I doubt that anyone would want to derail your aspirations just because they can. People tend to be nicer than one would expect.

i didn't read all of these posts, but your advisor would have to despise you to go through all that work to get your acceptance revoked.

unlikely. did you yell at her or somehing:??

No, I just didn't follow his recommendations about which courses he believed fulfilled medical school requirements, despite me fulfilling all the requirements needed for admission that are posted directly on the med schools admissions website.

I don't understand why premed's go to advisors asking them which courses fulfill requirements for med schools, when the admissions office of each med school posts on their website the requirements needed for admission (in my opinion, that is the most credible source since the med school is deciding whether to accept you and not the premed advisor)
