I'm very OCD and I have dyslexia.

I like odd numbers, even numbers are repulsive, I always feel dirty, and I'm obsessed with matching colors and making sure arbitrary things are linear.

Do I mention this if I get an interview if the interviewer asks me about my personal stuff?

Strong desire to lay into this guy for trolling, but if srs, I will feelsbadman.jpg

Wot do?

confusion/10

Okay, look if you're not going to help, could you please leave me alone? It's frustrating, I have no idea how too much of this stuff works out and I really wanted to get help on this forum. I go to a really small school in Illinois and I was lucky to have 2 professors open up a lot of doors for me, and I work my ass off for everything I've gotten. I'm not a troll or jimmy or whatever the hell you're calling me. I just want guidance.

Still 0/10.

Okay, if you're serious, I would not mention any psychological problems unless directly asked about them.

Also. Obvious troll is obvious.

Also, the 2 is a song name you idiot. My favorite band, Crown the Empire, has 2 songs out called Johnny Ringo. You think I'm some sort of freak who will refuse to put an even number where it's needed? You think I probably lie and say that Carbon can form 3 or 5 bonds instead of 4, or KE = 1/3 mv^3 instead of 1/2mv^2....

If you're honestly a doctor or studying to be a doctor, I find you repulsive. I can't imagine you calling patients trolls.

Pretty sure MedPR is going into podiatry. Lots of troll feet to operate on. He's an expert.

Technically carbon can form 3 bonds.

But really, if you're not trolling. search/10 imo

You generally should avoid telling Adcoms, interviewers, etc about any sort of "problems" you have. It is in very poor taste.

Proceed with caution--I would say extreme caution if it includes behavioral/mental health issues.

Dyslexia doesn't look good, although there are plenty of individuals with dyslexia capable of completing medical school.

Yes, OP, you are trolling. You could just use a search button.

If even numbers are repulsive where is there a "2" in your username? 😛

99% sure that I'm Schizoid...I wouldn't be surprised if half of every med school class is though. You need to be crazy to get this far.

Oh great. Not this again. I think aspiring20 asked this before and a flame war erupted.

Troll confirmed. :troll:

It was nice knowing you OP.

This is pure genius. I'm going to start rubbing my scalp with lead every day. If I'm lucky, I'll get something edgy, like a bipolar disorder.

Dyslexic OP on the wards, note says patient complaining of "sharp angina", needs referral to Cardiology immediately.

OP reads "sharp vagina" and refers to Gynecology.

Success?

To make it clear: this response is exactly as serious as the OP.

Wow, you are not very good at this. :uhno:

Not knowing how to use the search feature is a MINUS on SDN.

All i know is that there is someone with dyslexia in my med school so. You can definitely get in with it. Now i don't know how you would broach the topic.

I think you should let it all hang out. Let your interviewers know how much your issues interfere with your daily routine...monopolizing your life as you stare at your closet for just the right clothes, repetitively washing yourself and your hands, how you have to constantly return home to be certain that you didn't leave the stove on, etc. I'm sure that you'll pass the Crazy Test of the interview process.

I see that you just joined SDN on 2/16/13, and I'll assume you're not trolling. 16+/- posts in less than 48 hours would be consistent with your self-reported diagnosis of OCD. I'm not sure about the dyslexia, but some might argue with your characterization of it as a "behavioral disorder."

You haven't mentioned any paranoid personality traits, and I would not want to exacerbate any of these, should you actually have them...however you should consider that everything you post on the internet is potentially retreivable and could be traced back to you. You might, for example, just be "goofing around" and not really have a mental illness (yes OCD is defined in DSM-IV/TR as a mental illness). I'm not saying that folks with some OC traits can not make fine physicians. I'd like a surgeon to be a little obsessive and compulsive about doing good surgery, but full-blown OCD can be disabling. If you really want advice if your degree of OCD would affect your ability to attend med school and eventually practice medcine, I'd suggest getting it directly from a licensed mental health professional. I doubt that any other advice you'd get from SDN (including from me) would answer your question. However, you have posted your question and if you are pre-med I'm sure that the AdCom folks would be able to read your post and for all I know might even be able to figure out who you are. Not that it would make any difference, of course.🙂
