I am now getting my MPH and though my grades have been almost all A's, I did get one C in Biostatistics due to a horrendous teacher. Will AMCAS factor this grade into my BCPM GPA, or do they only use the courses I took in undergrad that were prereq's for medical school? Any clue? 😕

No grad grades in BCPM.

unfortunate for some of us..

Very true. In reality it would be nice to have some of the other class grades I received be transferred to that average since some of my undergrad grades were not super-competitive. I feel your pain man.

It's just kinda weird that you can take as many classes as you want post-bac and they'll all count.. unless you're going for a degree.

If you say everyone's on a "level playing field," why accept post-bac classes? Why accept post-bac and not graduate?

Oh well, that's just part of the game.

So what is the advantage of doing a Masters instead of just doing random courses for a year?

if you don't get accepted, you have an advanced degree to fall back on.

and most places will pay your tuition for you, so a master's is free.

I'm not sure if I'd get a master's again, given the option, but probably so, since it was free.

Whether it affects your BCMP or undergraduate GPA depends on your enrollment and not whether it was an undergraduate or graduate course.

If you are enrolled as an undergraduate, all courses (undergrad and graduate) count towards your undergraduate GPA.

If you are enrolled as a graduate student, all courses (undergrad and graduate) count towards your graduate GPA.

only in tmdsas do they factor in a grad gpa

would a class called Statistics in Communication Sciences and Disorders count towards the BCMP gpa? what about Brain and Cognition or Physiologic Instrumentation? thanks!

depends on the course content. was the first one a statistics course where you actually learned to do statistical analysis of data?

brain and cognition sounds BCPM to me.
the statistics course sounds like BCPM as well.

I don't think the instrumentation course will fly though.

I feel that some of the info in this thread is misleading. I'm not saying it's on purpose, but I just wanted to clarify.

On AMCAS the BCPM is separated into cumulative undergraduate and graduate. The cumulative undergrad includes post bac courses (non degree seeking programs)...

This doesn't necessarily mean that the undergrad BCPM is more important than the graduate BCPM! I think the number of hours, courses and the GPA is more important than if it was undergrad or grad. So your graduate BCPM. Obviously, undergrad BCPM GPA will be important for most, but don't think that graduate BCPM doesn't count or isn't important...

I dunno, several adcomms have stated that the graduate GPA really just isn't that important, or doesn't carry nearly the same weight as undergrad. they say they expect you to make good grades because you're in a field you're good at.

Graduate GPA can still show upward trend and dedication, but UGrad GPA is still king.

Yeah I would love an adcoms response. It really should not be school dependent as some of y'all are saying, it all depends on amcas.

Not true. Undergrad courses taken as a graduate outside of the graduate program are counted as post-baccaleurate.
