Im wondering if its still worth it to apply if you below a school’s screening number do you get automatically just screened out. For example, I am a black URM male who got a 497 MCAT and have around a 3.8 GPA. Im thinking of applying to Morehouse med school as my options for MD are pretty much limited to HBCUS, however on MSAR it says they have a 498 MCAT for screening. Am i wasting money by applying and am i going to automatically get screened out because I am trying to save money if i can and I have no idea how the screening system works. I feel like i am a good mission fit, with good EC's however i am 1 point short of the cutoffs. Can anyone with knowledge of this let me know

You should also apply broadly to DO schools. Where is your state of residence ?
i am a us citizen but my residence is currently in Canada. However, i have strong ties to california as i was born there and have most of family there @Faha

You should apply to the 4 HBCU schools-Howard, Meharry, Morehouse and Charles Drew. Also apply broadly to DO schools and I suggest these:
VCOM (all 4 schools)
WCU-COM
ACOM
NYIT-AR
ARCOM
LMU-DCOM (all schools)
UIWSOM
WVSOM
UP-KYCOM
PCOM Georgia and South Georgia
BCOM (both schools)
LECOM (all schools)
TUNCOM
KHSC-COM
OCOM
DUQCOM
BUCOM
MU-COM
Many of these schools have MCAT medians in the 498 to 502 range so you could receive interviews.
