Are medical schools essentially done inviting applicants to interview?

I'm just curious if at this point, if you are not on a waitlist, are your interview chances essentially zero (or very low) with a school? I assume that since it is mid December this is the case.

I was hoping to get feedback from individuals that have applied in years past and have been through this process. I appreciate any input. Thanks!

No.

What he said.

Got an invite last week to somewhere I was complete in July. So they're still looking at things. Good luck!

No... got 2 in the past week after 2 solid months of rejections. My friend, a medical student on an adcom, says that schools will be slowing down now because of the holidays, but they'll get back to us more quickly in January.

also got 2 in the past 1.5 weeks

schools are still handing out invites, but you could send update or interest letters just to show that you're doing something productive during the cycle and you're still interested in their school.

I got my final interview invite last cycle during late March. I interviewed in April & was admitted a couple weeks later. There's still time.

Now...I'll be the first to admit that it sucks having to wait so long...but it ain't over til it's over.

I just received an interview today. Complete 9/9 or so. Still hoping for more....

I understand your anguish.. I haven't heard anything from med schools in over a month. But there's still time 🙂

I just received an interview at a school I have been complete at since July. Chin up!

This thread made me happy 🙂

I was sort of wondering the same thing

It really depends on the school. One of the schools I'm applying to has finished interviews for the cycle. I got into one of the last interview dates earlier this month. Other schools are still sending out invitations. Each school runs its admissions department as it sees fit, and they don't all do it the same way. Take a look at the school specific threads if you really want to figure out if you still have a shot.

i didn't hear since early october so i thought my cycle was over but i got an interview early this week. there is still hope!

Every school is completely different. Some interview further into the spring than others, some send out all the spring interview invites before Christmas, others wait to send out invites until a few weeks before the interview. Check the individual school threads for schools you're interested in to find out the general trend for that school in particular. There is no overall trend.

i got 2 in the last two weeks too. chin up!
