Are professors usually ok with absence for interviews?

I'm already scheduled to miss 2 days for a class that has a mandatory attendance policy (and is required for graduation). Do you guys think the professor will be cooperative (based on your own experiences).

At my school the student rules hand book say professional school interviews are excused absences , so they do not count against you for attendance. Varies from school to school. Check your class syllabi to see the policy

I've seen it go both ways. Some are just terrible, and will dock you points or fail you for missing an exam. Others are happy for you and try to offer advice! Very random.

some teachers won't like it, some won't care. just make sure you let them know.

Most professors I have seen are cool so long as you give them notice in advance.

Most schools have excused absenses for professional interviews, and your dean might be able to send your teachers a paper formally excusing you. (I had to do that, as one professor tried to keep me from graduating for missing too much of his class for MD/PhD interviews, even though I had the high grade for his class and didn't miss exams. Deans can help in that situation.)

varies by professor and topic. Performance and lab heavy classes are less forgiving, though not necessarily always unforgiving, because of the inherent inability to make that time up.

At my university they allowed us to make up labs with a different lab section or let us take exams early. You will have to tell the prof at the beginning of the semester that you are applying for med school and will possibly have interviews. That way, they have a heads up and you can work something out when you start getting invites. It is always best to inform the professor very early on because a lot of them don't like surprises!

I will be missing my biochem class and probably human anatomy and its lab :scared: I'm worry! never miss a day since middle school! Hopeful the prof will be understanding.
