Just wondering if Western and Midwestern are the 2 most easiest schools to get in since they are new and haven't been fully established yet. I imagine most of us rather pick schools that had been around for a while. And also, I was told that their 1st year students' GPA and DAT are generally lower that the rest. Anyone has any input? 😕

maybe in the 1st year but not so much now. midwestern only got 1900 apps or so its 1st year which drove down competition. this year they recieved over 3000. next year, when the clinic is built, with something like 280 operatories, cerac, digital tech, and all the other new bells and whistles i think it competition will be driven up even further. i believe the gpa for mwu 2nd year is around 3.45 and a dat of 19, which seems pretty standard nationally. remember that more or less competition doesn't reflect the quality of education, just the desireability of the school to pre-dents.

Thanks Oracle. Do you know anything about Western?

i was looking on the website and it says that Western has only "initial accreditation" status. i'm assuming since it's so new. not sure what it means but does anybody know if that's not OK?

Midwestern has the same thing. It's ok. They are just still in the process of getting fully accredited.

Am I correct in that if they do not end up getting accredited (which I am sure is unlikely), then those students could be screwed in that they would have to start/transfer to another school and meet that particular school's requirements to graduate?

Yes, that is true and you are also right in that it is very unlikely. The fact that they are are unaccredited means only that they have yet to graduate a class, which is required to be fully accredited. Do not let this persuade you from applying to these schools. Beyond this, I know nothing about them.

From what I was told, WesternU received over 2000 apps for the entering class. If for whatever crazy reason they end up not accredited, the DMD degrees will still be recognized. Westernu is going to have a great program, and I'm very proud to be part of the charter class! 😀

WesternU is located in Pomona. You would need to check with admin office to see if they accept foreign students. Best of luck!
