Are the Kaplan OAT review notes a lot different from the MCAT review notes?

My friend gave me a set of Kaplan MCAT 2010 study material.
It has all the review notes and a lesson book. Should I use this ?
I heard that some topics covered in OAT are the same as in MCAT. Is this true? or they are completely different? How different are they tested? I'm very confused now and really need some advice.
I planed my test prep calendar in a way similar to the Kaplan course, but i cannot start because I don't know if i'm using the right material. I went through a lot of the old thread but didn't find the exact answer to my question.
I apologize if this topic has been covered before.

as far as ive seen the MCAT kaplan review notes n OAT review notes (n DAT review notes) r the same
they differ in the "sections" covered in the respective tests but the
biology
general chem
organic chem
n physics notes
should be the same for both books
you would only need a quantitative reasoning review thing
and im not sure whether the mcat verbal reasonin n oat verbal reasoning are the same in both review books
but everything else as i far as ive seen is (a lot of my friends have the mcat review notes n they are really similar to mine)

also lots of ppl use additional mcat study materials to help them study for their OAT so im sure ull be fine

The OAT does not have a verbal reasoning section. Only a reading comprehension section which involves reading 3 passages with 40 affiliated questions in 50 minutes. (unless you were referring to RC as "verbal reasoning" then never mind)

Yea, I think the reading comprehension and the verbal reasoning sections are very similar. I think the biggest differences will be in physics and quantitative reasoning sections. On the MCAT physics, math, and gen chem are one section. For the OAT gen chem is in with org and bio while physics and math are their own sections. One other thing is the the bio section on the MCAT is passage based, which means they have to read a passage and interpret things from that, OAT is straight-up prior knowledge.

I know that is how the tests are set up, however, I don't know how much difference that will make for your studying. From what I have seen of my friends MCAT books everything is similar, except for the math section. The most available thing for just math would be to pick up a DAT math book. I think the physics on the MCAT will cover you for what we take but you may want to check into that.
