Are there any health/medical jobs that don't require a certification/more schooling?

I graduated from my university with a B.A. in Kinesiology and looking for a job in the health/medical field while I wait to hear back from med school apps. All of the jobs require you to get a license or take a year long or longer training class(s) before even applying for the job.

I was looking at something for the summer, such as an EMT, phlebotomist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist assistant, certified nursing assistant, transporter..... but they a require more training I believe.

Are there any jobs that you can apply to right after college and land a job, i need a job for this summer!!!!

Unfortunately, there's already slim pickings for positions that do NOT require additional certfication (quite honestly, all I can think of is scribing). To compound, you only want a job for the summer. Some places will actually give you on-the-job training for things like phlebotomy but you have to know the right people to point you in the right direction; but like you said, you're only looking for a summer position. You're probably better off finding a regular job and finding a volunteer experience if its ultimately exposure that you're looking for...

I already have lots of exposure and am currently volunteering in a emergency room, I just wanted something that pertains to the medical field as its my main interest... just seems silly that i have a degree in heath/medicine and i should take a job in retail or sales...you know?

yes but dont they want you to commit at least 2 years part time?

Nah, unless your project leader actually mentions that commitment you dont really need to follow through with it. You should let them know that you plan on going to medical school next year though if they ask your plans.

In the contract, it says "at will employment" multiple times.

Edit: I should add that you probably wont get the job if you only plan on working for the summer. I plan on working as a scribe until a hopeful med school acceptance.

Yea, I completely understand; I scribe now. I suppose you could look into scribing but certainly don't tell them you're only in it for a summer.

will check out the scribe, do they teach you all the necessary vocabulary or are you expected to learn it outside?

They give you study material and quiz you while in training but none of it is difficult. If I can find my materials, I would be happy to share them with you.

Yes. The hospitals here allow you to become a patient care technician off the street with no experience. They will train you to become a patient care tech through their training program. This position is a tech that is under the nurse.

Pay here is around $13-15/hr

"Unit concierge". It actually is a lot more hands on than the title appears. My girlfriend worked as one. She made $13 an hour and it only requires a high school degree. You have to work/deal with patients and their families. Handle the discharges/admits. Correctly tag patients' DNRs (not the best part of the day). You build close relationships with doctors, nurses, and patients - depending on what unit you work on

thank you guys, its always helpful to hear other option other than the typical scribe position!

That's cool that they'll actually train you. In my state, you have to pay to take a test to become a certified to be a CNA. There are loop-holes, I've heard, but like I said before, you have to know the right people

The hard part will be finding a position, especially just for the summer when it's already July...
No one wants to hire you for such a temporary period.
