Are there any other Nutrition related SMPs besides the Columbia program?

I am interested in Nutrition related programs, like the Columbia program, that are geared toward pre-med folks, and are one year.

Any good programs that are more than one year, or are more researched based will be appreciated as well.

If possible, post the program's URL.

Just for reference, here is Columbia's program's URL.

Thanks in advance!

In terms of nutrition-related programs, there are two programs I can point out:

  1. Cornell University Division of Nutritional Sciences: http://www.sce.cornell.edu/sp/health_studies/index.php. The program is one year, but you graduate with a post-bacc certificate not a MS. This program is brand new, so there is no data on matriculants.
  2. New York Chiropractic College MS in Applied Clinical Nutrition: http://www.nycc.edu/AcademicPrograms_MSACNprogram.htm. This program is two years, and you graduate with a Master's. Location may be a deterrent.
Consider a Master's in Biomedical Science at NYMC or UMNDJ, which is more rigorous and selective, but you can finish in one year with the possibility of being offered a medical school interview.

A nutrition degree from a chiropratic college is not going to look impressive to a US allopathic medical school.

If you want a nutrition degree, then you aren't going to find many options.

If you want to go to medical school, then look at true SMP.

Nutrition degrees aren't all that impressive to a med school unless you already had the stats. We spent less than 3hrs talking about nutrition in my MS biochem course.

Thanks examsherpa for the links, I'll definitely check out the Cornell program. My college advisor got his PhD from Cornell and he's writing a letter of rec. for my grad school applications. Even if that doesn't look good, it's always good to be part of a new thing...and with a school like Cornell, the program's bound to be good. I'll check out the New York school too, but I kinda agree with robflanker on that. A degree in Nutrition from a Chiropractic school seems an odd pairing to say the least...but I'm saying that without any knowledge of the program...thanks again!😀

I'm interested in Nutrition because I'm a firm believer in a good diet being the number one way to prevent a lot of illness, and as a doctor I think a background in Nutrition will prove infinitely useable. Also, very interested in Nutrition on a personal level as well.

I am planning to apply after the New Year to a variety of well known "traditional" SMPs such as Georgetown, Tulane, Loyola, Boston, Rosalind Franklin, and Cincinnati. Just seeing what my options are for different types of grad schooling before I hit up the med schools. Thanks for your advice robflanker!😀
