Hi, everyone. I am in my second year of college but now I am officially a sophomore. I had two bad grades so far during my time here: a C+ in math and a B+ in chemistry
I took the math class during the summer of my freshman year. It was a Math Competency Algebra class that is only 2 credits. I (and many of the other people in my class) failed the first exam but did fine on everything else. the instructor I had promised us he would replace our low exam grade with our final exam grade but changed his mind at the end of the semester ): I may have had a tough time transitioning from high school to college math which may have been the reason for my C+, I don't know. It is really bothering me, however, and I want to know if I should be retaking it or not.
In Fall of 2012 I took an Intro to Chem class (This was the pre-req to gen chem 1. I took a placement exam over the summer and did not place into gen chem, so this was the 'remedial' class, I guess.) On the first day in lecture, our professor told us that the grade we got in this class (esp if we were going to apply to med school) 'did not really matter all that much', and that the class was really just provided to give us a better background of chemistry so that we could excel in gen chem and all of our other future chem classes. I don't know if she was completely right about that or not.
anyways-- I ended up with a B+ in the chem class. I juggled two tutoring jobs and volunteered in a hospital and I had to learn how to manage my time effectively this semester. it left me tired most of the time and slept when I could have been studying. I understood the material but anxiety and lack of sleep made me more prone to making stupid mistakes on all of the exams...
I know I already sound very neurotic but do you think that I should be retaking these two classes? my BCPM right now is pretty low, at a 3.36 (I took two bio classes my freshman year, which I got A-'s in) any feedback would be great, thanks.
