Are these decent books to use for clinicals?

Hi everyone. I just wanted to get some feedback on these books. Also would anyone care to share how they kept track of all the new information learned during the MS3-MS4 year. I was thinking about having a notebook for each core and writing down important concepts or pearls along with any notes from lectures. Is this a sound plan or should I be doing something different? Thanks for the advice.

ER
1) NMS Clinical Manual of Emergency Medicine
2) 1st Aid for the Emergency Clerkship

IM
1) Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics
2) Step-Up to Medicine

Ob/Gyn
1) Benson and Pernoll's Handbook of Obstetrics
2) Current Clinical Strategies by Chan
3) Blueprints

Peds
1) Saint-Frances
2) Rudolph's Fundamentals of Peds
3) Current Pediatric Dx & Tx (Lange)

Psych
1) Saint-Frances
2) 1st Aid for the Psych Clerkship

Surgery
1) Current Clinical Strategies by Chan
2) 1st Aid for the Surgery Clerkship

You have way, way, way too many books -- don't buy all of these!

ER - Residents like Emergency Medicine Secrets. But it's dense, so if you're looking just to pass your required clerkship, First Aid is probably sufficient. Pick one book and stick with it, no need to buy two.

IM - Again, pick one and stick with it. You don't need all three although you'll probably enjoy reading all three (and spending $120 on new ones of these). I'd drop the Washington Manual unless you really desperately want to spend the money on it. You won't use it as much as you think.

Ob/Gyn - Just Blueprints unless you want to go into OB (if so, ask an OB resident what to read).

Peds - I just used Blueprints.

Psych - I used Blueprints.

Surgery - Surgical Recall is the gold standard. Any other book can explain stuff in Recall you don't understand. Stick to Recall.

Radiology - Did not even bother with a book.

Agree with the previous post on too many books. Pick 1-2 books per rotation and stick with them. As far as remembering all the info learned, I found Boards and Wards very helpful in general review for the 3rd year.
