MS4 here about to submit edits for my MSPE - currently, my surgery MSPE reads the following - "It was a pleasure to work with Medshepep2021 during their surgery rotation. They have an incredibly strong work ethic, unmatched enthusiasm for learning, and a solid knowledge base. They continue to work on clinical applications. On the rotation, Medshepep2021 also sought feedback regularly and most importantly, always knew how to apply that feedback. Medshepep2021 developed great rapport with patients and was always compassionate in patient care. Overall, Medshepep2021 is a humble, hard-working, and trustworthy student who will become a wonderful physician."

So I think this overall is a positive MSPE eval, but I am wondering if "They continue to work on clinical applications" part could be seen as a negative and I should ask for it to get taken out? Thanks!

is this satire?
Lol I know its overall very positive and I'm happy, but applying for a competitive ROAD specialty and don't know if that one iffy/neutral sentence could be counted against me when everyone else applying will have overwhelmingly positive comments.

NASA would have to develop new technology to analyze this request.

It's super unlikely that you could have anything other than factual errors (the spelling of your name, pronouns, etc.) taken out, but an evaluation without an actionable piece of improvement feedback is suspicious.

Chilllllllaxxxxxxx. This evaluation is superb. Hope that the rest of yours are similar and know that perfection is a red flag .

This means that when your surgery attending was filling out umpteen evals after getting the third reminder email to do so, he had written “needs to keep reading” on the 7 evals before yours and decided to change it up a bit and say keep working on clinical application.

The comments are excellent. They will neither open nor close any doors to you, which is exactly what you want your MSPE comments to do.

My MSPE only has two short comments for the rotation in my specialty. One of them literally just says "Name did well during the _____ rotation". That same attending said he could write a good letter for me. How bad is this? Should I not attach his letter?

This reads as satire of the flaws in the evaluation system rather than the neuroticism of an individual to me.

Evaluation inflation is rampant with most negative feedback based on subjective factors so any small sentence could be a seen as differing in a likely sea of flawless evaluations detailing how every future intern was already performing at the level of an intern on their first M3 rotation.

I agree with others that this isn’t a big deal. It wouldn’t hurt to remove it, but I don’t think the comment about clinical application moves the needle much in a negative direction. It may also neutralize an otherwise strong evaluation by removing any genuine nature from it. The problem is that all it takes is one blowhard who reads it as a knock relative to all his or her other applications and throws it out. Highly doubt that it would happen/if at all but you never know.

OP, it’s your decision. That’s my perspective.

WTF my school edited out all the sht about being a wonderful physician and any excitement - all my evals read like they're just fckn generic. You got a really good eval dude.
