Are we required to take physics WITH CALCULUS or not?

Okay since med schools require one year of physics...then do we have to take the physics course with calc or just a general physics course...?

Ex./ My school offers two types of physics sequence:

Physics 2A & 2B - General Physics

Physics 3A & 3B - General Physics with Calculus


So, is it a requirement to take the one with calc or just a general physics course...?

I really need some words on this issue....thanks.

AVOID DIFFICULT CLASSES....BOOOST GPA, that is all adcoms look for................

I know pple with absolutely dumb majors getting in, and pple with astrophysics gettting rejected...

the whole pick whatever BS you want is a bunch of BS

pick the BS that is easiest and you can BS ur way in med school

as far as i know, there isn't a med school in the country that requires physics with calculus, nor is it necessary for mcat prep. take either one.

Med schools don't care. Just make sure you are taking the one your major requires. Thank goodness we have a choice or I would have been sunk. I didn't learn anything in calculus and somehow got a B. Yuck Physics!!!!!!!! I hated it.

Wouldn't taking physics withOUT calculus be the same thing as high school physics? Even the physics for bio majors at my school is physics with calculus...

harvard's HST program requires calc-based physics. a few other programs might. That's the only one i can think of off the top of my head

In an algebraic physics course you'd have a series of equations. For example:

Vf = Vi + at
Xf = Xi + VoT + (1/2)aT^2
Vx^2 = Vo^2 + 2a(Xf - Xi)

To get from position to velocity or velocity to acceleration you'd simply use a combination of the above equations. Solve for some variable here, plug in there and voila!
