anyone doing or even thinking about doing their medical degree along with another degree??? anyone have experience with this?? are time constraints such that you are unable?? do med skools "forbid" you to do this?? 😕

PCOM has several programs which lead to DO/MBA, DO/MPH (both 5 years) DO/PhD (6 or 7).

Also, there is work on an MS in neuromusculoskeletal medicine.

UMDNJSOM has a 7 year DO/JD program...for the truly motivated or truly confused.

hmm... yea i know about those structured programs. What i am talking about is doing concurrent programs WHILE you are also going to med skooo... like wake up, go to med skoo in morning/afternoon then evening goto other class...... etc...

that neuromusculoskeletal ms sounds interesting.

I am currently enrolled in the A.T. Still Univeristy of Health Sciences (KCOM) MPH program, which is offered completely online. While I will have 7 of 11 classes completed by the time KCUMB starts, I will be taking the remaining classes while in med. school. In every one of my classes so far, there have been med. students, and all that I have talked to so far say that they've been comfortable taking 1 additional course per quarter. The flexiblity of online classes allows you to work in the time need to complete the MPH work when it best fits your med. school schedule.

hey, guess ill be seeing you come august 2nd eh..

that mph program sounds cool, do you have a link of it by chance, i dont remember seeing it on the kcom website??

nm, i found it... its kinda expensive... $426 per credit hour if you are not going to kcom... eek...

Yes, I'll be there!

And yes, it is expensive. I decided it was worth it to me because I didn't have to be in a classroom at a certain time each week, making very flexible on time. And this is true, not only week-by-week, but throughout the quarter as most work is assigned right up front. You still have weekly deadlines to meet, but you have a great overview of where the most time-consuming work will need to be finished and can plan according. Also, no commute and no parking, a big problem here in Detroit.

At NSUCOM, you can get a scholarship for tuition and fees to complete a MPH. They have it set up so you can complete the degree in four years while getting your D.O.; you can take some classes online but the core has to be taken on-campus. I am doing it now.

NSUCOM Class of 2007

damn PCOM why couldn't I have been accepted there... (just kidding hardcore LECOM lovers)

I really wanted to do MBA or MS (exactly like that) but no one's really mentioned anything here at LECOM (I don't think there's anything)...

I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will perk up.

ok guys, so like, the reason i was interested was because i am interested in doing actually a couple of programs online, that if i were to do them slowly and gradually without putting too much stress on myself from them, then i should be able to complete in at least 4 yrs. i know i know, im doing medicine so focus on that right?? well everyday i have crazy new thoughts and interests, my main focus is medicine, but i want to get into electrical/nerves/religion/law stuff... i see how it all ties together and i wanna learn more, but id hate to be in school for the rest of my life... so why not bust my butt during these next four years, get it done, then im set to merge it all together how i want?? i guess thas why i asked you guys, and from what was posted here and pm'ed i gather that it is possible to do some of this stuff... so... yay... i have confidence now hehe 😛 😎

You can always go back and get a MBA after your done with med school.

ewe... an mba?? heheh j/k

nah im lookin at msee, jd, mdiv ...
